Markelle Fultiz is becoming a folklore for professional basketball sports. It is so sad to see how his career has already turned out in such a short time. Being the number one overall pick already comes with its demands and projections. Having to live up to them is even more stressful and tenuous. It is just so sad to say that he did not become anything that Philly thought he would be.
Since being drafted he has spent more time on the injury list than on the court and when he was on the court he was an eye sore. All of the offensive promise he displayed at Washington never translated to the NBA leaving one to wonder what went wrong. With all of the hype that surrounded Markelle as a fan you wanted to see him become something in the NBA. You did not want him to become apart of that list of number one busts of all time. However what makes Markelle story different is that his issues on the court are being attributed to chronic nerve issues and injuries rather than him just being bad.
As of now there is not enough tape on Markelle to definitively say that he is a bust and/or just not as good as advertised. This is the only real saving grace that Markelle has going for him. He is caught in the advantageous side of the "unknown". The hope is that by being traded to the Magic he will one be relieved of dealing with the pressure of being the Sixers number one overall pick, secondly have time to deal with and understand his diagnosis of thoracic outlet syndrome, and lastly come to a team that is desperate to find a PG that can help them realize their potential in the Orlando Magic. Over here with the Tribe we wish Markelle the best but as of now it looks like the timeline for Fultz to show if he is a bust or not depends on whether he plays after the All-Star break or at the beginning of next year season.
