Blame it on Baby

Being critical of DaBaby would be an understatement when it comes to my feelings about him and his music. My impression of DaBaby is that he is a very talented entertainer. I would not declare him as a lyricist but he can provide from time to time some very clever ways to describe things on some of his records. It leaves me aware that DaBaby can actually rap so that is not a concern, but moreso just a feeling of being underwhelmed by his need to make these obnoxious repetitive songs.

My biggest critique of DaBaby along with a multitude of others is that every one of his albums and songs always sound just alike. His flows are consistently the same, production never waivers to anything new and the content recycles. It drives more aggravation than anticipation when it comes to looking forward to a DaBaby project, because as a fan of hip hop I enjoy the energy DaBaby brings to the game. So, I want DaBaby to offer more than just clickbait hits on trap beats.

This album was a step in that direction. DaBaby seems as if he has gotten tired of the criticisms. This album offered variation in styles in flow and production that has long been awaited. The content on this album offered a look into DaBaby's motivations as a man. He is driven by legacy, and to provide for family and the ones he loves. He struggles with being the man he is in a world that is always looking for you to fall than rise. He is aware that his temper puts in him situations that may or may not be merited but makes no apologies for being that way.

"Blame It On Baby" is a declaration of understanding his place in the game now. He understands that he is on the upward climb and that he has to be wary of any and all things that could slow up his goals. That is to build an empire sustainable for his life and others to come. In the midst of that he didn't lose the energy that makes him DaBaby even when he got out of his comfort zone!

Getting out of his comfort zone gives hope that there will be more in store for DaBaby and that he will not just be a one trick pony type of artist.

Thank you DaBaby!
