Mr. Anderson is bringing R&B back with G-Funk, soul and inspiration. Honestly if Marvin Gaye was a G-Funk artist he would have been Anderson Paak. Anderson is definitely a great musician and writer. You can clearly see his intentions it all that he does on all of his albums and this is another album to showcase his talents and ability to blend genres and styles.
The beautiful thing about Anderson is that he knows how to set up his features on this project. He honestly understands the use of collaboration and the impact of a joint effort. Every single person who featured on this album showed up and showed out and it was clearly invited space by Anderson. The way the beat would build or break for other artists to have their moment on his track was more than genuine, accompanying that was genius, because that it is how you get value out of a feature. I will highlight it is always easier for a singer to allow a rapper to shine than it is for two singers to beautifully collaborate together.
Nevertheless this was a beautiful project from Anderson, speaking on faith, religion, life, sex and love, lust, and questioning the all so ever need to know if things will ever change in this world of violence and betrayal. I can continue to go on and on about this project and how it manufactured a feeling for everyone of all ages and predicaments. Obviously Anderson kept it close to home with giving all great west coast vibes, but his influences are all across the board. And it should be because music to day has definitely reached a great gumbo state. At this point the debate with artists and music is who can make the best gumbo and has the best herbs and spices.
Mr. Anderson great job and great project!
